Springfest, but why don’t we all get the rest of the day off?

May 18, 2007

What can you say about Mexican? I miss Rio Grande. They had the best tamales in town. But free food, who can pass that up?

Our little group walked to the dining center rain location for Springfest to consume copious amounts of said Mexican food. There were no suprises other than the best t-shirts I’ve seen them print to date — cactuses and sombreros. Thank you for not putting the logo on them (really.) Although I understand that Mexicans do not wear sombreros. Other interesting facts from Rob and Karl at my table: Mexico City has 25 million people, the temperature is pretty nice and the smog terrible, plus it has a happening art scene equal to or greater than New York.

Had the chicken-pepper mix in a tortilla and some of those red and blue chips. The seven-layer dip was great and kind of Mexican-y. And sweet tea of course. They’ve really been getting that right recently.

Now, the margaritas were kind of weak — I was the only one at my table to try one and the chemical taste is still with me. Would have really been helped by some tequila and salted rims. Maybe next year.

Greetings
